Babcock Neighborhood School Governing Board

Babcock Neighborhood School Governing Board members have been recruited from a pool of local educational, business and community leaders.  Our inaugural board members are:

  • Robert Kenny, Ph.D. -
    • Associate Professor and Chair, Department of Leadership, Technology & Research at FGCU.  Ph.D. in Curriculum & Instruction from the University of Florida.
  • Jennifer Languell, Ph.D.
    • Founder and President of Trifecta Construction Solutions, providing consulting services to industries that are incorporating sustainable business practices into their daily operations. An award-winning author, Dr. Languell was also selected as a technical advisor and star for the Discovery Channel’s environmental series Discovery Project Earth. Dr. Languell serves in leadership roles with many non-profit organizations, is a past President/Vice President of the Florida Green Building Coalition, a LEED Accredited Professional for the USGBC, a Class 1 Certified Energy Rater, an NAHB Verifier and Certified Green Professional, and a Certifying Agent with the Florida Green Building Coalition.  
  • Richard Lewis, Ph.D. -
    • Chair of the STEAM team of Southwest Florida, which works to connect students and teachers to STEM businesses through hands-on, real-world interactions.  Dr. Lewis also serves as the STEAM liaison for the Calusa Chapter of the Florida Engineering Society, Vice Regional Chair on the MIT Educational Council, and on STEM advisory organizations for both Lee and Collier County Public Schools.
  • Megan Just -
    • Professor, FGCU College of Education.  
  • Sarah E. Spector-
    • Local Land Use and Community Association Law Attorney.  Ms. Spector is a Board Member of the Community Associations Institute, South Gulf Coast Chapter; member of the Lee County Association for Women Lawyers, serving as President from 2015-2016; Recruitment Chair & Big Sister for Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Sun Coast-Lee County Community Board.  
  • Angela Katz -
    • Development Director for the LARC, an organization that provides support for developmentally disabled individuals. Angela holds a certificate in Fundraising Management from the Lilly Family School of Philanthropy, Indiana Universty. She is a licensed fundraising profession and President of Angela Katz, LLC. Angela is a highly accomplished strategic Fundraising/Development professional with broad-based experience in annual campaigns, special events, donor prospecting, recognition, and stewardship, as well as non-profit administration, volunteer management, non-profit messaging, branding, and communications. 
  • Tricia Duffy - 
    • Former Charlotte County Commissioner from 2006 to 2016, she received an MS in Healthcare Administration from College of St. Francis, Joliet, Illinois and a BA in Communications from Seton Hall Univ., So Orange, NJ.  Tricia’s background also includes serving as Director of Senior Health Services at hospitals in Ft. Myers and Myrtle Beach, SC. She was also Director of Marketing at Bon Secours-St. Joseph Hospital in Port Charlotte and assisted businesses with TV advertising as an Account Executive with Comcast.  She briefly taught English and Journalism at Charlotte HS in Punta Gorda.

Pursuant to 1002.33(7)(d)1., Florida Statutes, the Board will appoint a representative to facilitate parental involvement, provide access to information, assist with questions and concerns, and resolve disputes. The representative from BNS is Jennifer Languell and she can be reached at

Second Tuesday of each month, 5:00pm

A meeting of the Governance Board of Babcock Neighborhood School will be held on the second Tuesday of each month at 5:00pm.  This meeting was scheduled previously to occur at 43301 Cypress Parkway, Babcock Ranch, FL 33982.  However, in light of Executive Order 20-69 (Emergency Management- COVID-19 - Local Government Public Meetings), dated March 20, 2020, which allows the Governing Board to “utilize communications media technology, such as telephonic and video conferencing” as provided in Florida Statute 120.54(5)(b)2, this meeting will be conducted by the Governance Board via electronic communication and will be live-streamed on Zoom. All interested members of the public are invited to attend using the following instructions:
